Yes. Cane toads secrete a toxin from the glands behind their head that is extremely dangerous to dogs and cats. Exposure can cause drooling, seizures, collapse, and even death within minutes.

Even a small amount of toxin can cause severe illness or death, especially in small pets. Always treat exposure as an emergency.

For standard inspections and collections, we usually book within 24–48 hours. Emergency visits are prioritised and may be available the same day.

We visit before dark, survey danger zones (we call these red zones), inspect for breeding sites, and collect any toads found after nightfall. You'll receive a safety report with tips.

Not at all. We humanely euthanise them following local wildlife guidelines. This is a completely hands-off service.

You can, but many customers find it unpleasant and risky. DIY often leads to toxin exposure, injuries, or illegal relocation. We make it safe and easy.

The same ones won't — we remove them permanently. However, others may move in, which is why recurring collection is best.

Cane toads are nocturnal and most active during warm, wet months — typically November through March. They may still appear year-round after rain or in humid conditions.

Adult toads are usually 9–15 cm but can grow beyond 20 cm. They have dry, bumpy skin, bony ridges above the eyes, and large poison glands behind the head.

Cane toads have:

• A waddling walk (frogs hop)

Native frogs generally have smooth, moist skin and lack the big poison glands. When in doubt — don't touch, and call us for help.

Outdoor lights (which draw insects), water bowls, pet food, and standing water are the main attractants.

The most reliable deterrent is a professionally installed toad-proof fence combined with regular inspections. Removing water sources, food bowls, and outdoor lights will also make your yard less attractive to toads.

No — these methods don't work and may be dangerous to pets or the environment. Safe fencing and regular inspections are the only proven solutions.

We use purpose-designed mesh that is durable, weather-resistant, and safe for pets.

Our toad- and wildlife-proof fencing is buried at least 150 mm below ground to stop toads from digging underneath.

We install the fence so it sits flush against walls, gates, and other structures, sealing any gaps so toads and other wildlife can't squeeze through.

When it comes to the gate, we will attach a piece of edging that will brush the ground ensuring a tight seal but allowing for the same gate movement and access you had before installation of the cane toad barrier.

No because not only is the Textilene® mesh nearly indestructible, we offer added protection by installing protective edging with screws and washers. We can run that edging on one or both sides of the fencing to offer you the shield you choose.
